Chicago Nike Tournament of Champions 2014
The Colorado Lady Hawks Elite just competed in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago this past weekend and made a great showing! They played in the top bracket for 16U and finished the weekend with a 2-3 record, with all losses by only 10 points or less. They played very well and never gave up when they found themselves down early in a couple games. As coaches we are very proud of the fight that we witnessed in these young girls and we cannot wait to see what they will do next! There were scouts from multiple colleges that came to watch the girls play and we look forward to hearing from them in the coming weeks. We were all very impressed by this tournament and we plan to return next summer. The McCormick Place convention center hosts 50+ courts in one giant room creating a basketball atmosphere that is hard to imagine until you see it for yourself. All stats from these games are available and I will be adding pictures over the next few days.

Power To Play Tournament 2014
This past weekend the Lady Hawks played in the Power to Play Tournament in Lakewood and Golden. On Saturday they made a great showing by dominating both games winning by 20+ points, sending them into the top overall seed for Sunday's bracket play. First up on Sunday, the girls matched up against The Boulder Rockies. Things were close at halftime but the girls picked up their game and cruised on to a 10 point victory, sending them into the Championship game versus the Colorado Shine. The championship game was tight throughout and the girls found themselves down by one point at halftime. But after finding themselves down 2 points with under 10 seconds in regulation, Jendaya Jefferson made a great move to the basket to tie the game up. The first overtime was a tough battle as each team only scored 2 points, leading to a second overtime. Unfortunately the second overtime didn't end in our favor and The Colorado Shine pulled out the one point victory for the Title. The girls played some great basketball this weekend and we are excited to see them get even better by their next tournament.
